Developing Quarterbacks of All Ages

Individual Specific Approach

Direction That Makes a Difference

I have worked with over 100 quarterbacks in a multitude of settings and there is a reason small groups are more productive than huge camps. Quite frankly, you don't know what you don't know and having someone delve directly into your strengths and weaknesses as well your actual team's schemes will give you quality coaching and more importantly teach you the correct way to practice on your own.

What I Do

  • Ensure the fundamentals of proper mechanics with our throwing motion as well as position of our feet.

  • Teach how to take a drop from center and apply it to our receivers route and our play call. (Timing)

  • Interactive marker board work teaching basic overages and how very common schemes match each coverage.

  • Push our quarterbacks out of their comfort zone through drill work that they can take with them and work on at home.

  • Consult in the recruiting process as well as assist that transition.

My Story

Experienced Coaching Professional

My hometown is Mediapolis, Iowa. A small town in the Southeast corner of Iowa about 45 minutes from Iowa City. I grew up throwing a football with dreams of playing for the Chicago Bears. No one where I came from got the opportunity to play Division I football much less play for the Bears. With that, no one really believed it was possible and to be honest I doubted it myself.

I was fully committed to winning and with that came a lot of work, even more playing, and eventually touchdowns. My Senior season was cut short the game before the State Championship when I suffered my first ACL injury. Even so, I was very fortunate to earn a scholarship to Kansas State. I rehabbed and competed for the starting spot. In August 2015 I won the job  as a RS Sophmore and was going to get my first start since 2012 when I tore my ACL. First play of the first game, I run a designed run up the middle and to the left and boom. I was starting over again. I had torn my ACL yet again in the same knee. At this time I had a lot of talks in my own head to decide if I wanted to risk a 3rd time. Why would next time be any different? Well I decided to come back and finish what I started. I rehabbed again and won the starting job again.

In the 5th game of my Junior season against OU I rolled out and was tackled on my throwing shoulder. I had a grade 3 AC separation. In other words my collarbone was pointing up at 45 degrees. For the rest of the season I was able to numb it before the games and get by until postseason surgery. My first season finished at 9-4. Heading into my Senior season I was mentally and physically ready to finally show what a healthy me could do. In the 4th game against Baylor, I made a cut and felt a small pop in my knee. It was nothing painful but led to a lot of swelling. I got with trainers and rehabbed it accordingly. Little did I know my next game against Texas would be my final collegiate game. In the second quarter as I was running my knee had an intense crunch. I had a Cartilage fracture (OCD). My femur and tibia hit together where I had no meniscus and essentially broke the cartilage away from my bone.

I didn't get my dream season but I did have interest from NFL scouts and had private workouts with several teams. Ultimately, I went undrafted and in May 2018 went to Rookie Camp with the New Orleans Saints as a Free Agent. I didn't get a contract. Two months later I was offered to play 3 years in the AAF Alliance of America football league. As appealing as it was to get another chance to play. It was time to move on. I accepted a job with Arthrex, a medical device company, and now get to help many people including athletes like myself.

If there was one obvious that I took from my experience it would be that we are much more capable of doing things we don't allow ourselves to believe. I was a 3 star recruit who had 60 quarterbacks ranked ahead of him. I overcame multiple severe injuries. When It was all said and done, I couldn't have told you where the top 10 guys in my class played. If only I knew then what I know now.
